What we're learning ...
Reading: The students have begun to participate in a literature circle during our ELA time. They'll be working on many of the fiction reading standards: supporting with evidence, using context clues to figure out words, identifying theme, etc. Much of the reading will be done in class but there are times when the students may come home with some reading to do. Math: We're finishing up our unit on Place Value and Decimals. We've been adding and subtracting decimals, rounding decimals and identifying place value. We'll test on this unit next week after doing a few days of review. Science: We've been digging into the idea of simple machines. This week we experimented with catapults. We will continue exploring simple machines and forces as we move into next week. Social Studies: The students took their social studies test on Native Americans next week.
